in Lady Lifter Spotlight

Many of my spotlights come from me seeking out ladies that inspire me, but it’s always nice when someone approaches me about wanting to be featured! This week’s spotlight was referred to me by a former spotlight and fellow Crossfitter, Jenn. Sarah, too, has discovered the positive impact that Crossfit has on a person from the inside out!

What types physical activity do you enjoy?

Crossfit, running, weight lifting, yoga

How did you get started in weight lifting? How long have you been lifting?

I have always been active, and about 3 years ago I started looking into weight training, but would do it sporadically. Never did I keep track of my progress. I’d start, then stop. You know how that story goes. I started Crossfit and weight lifting 6 months ago. The Crossfit box I go to is in a personal training facility so we are limited to certain times/days a week. Once they get their new box I will be crossfitting and weight lifting 5x a week and I’m so excited!!! I’m excited to see how my progress levels increase. I just love Crossfit.

Favorite workout or lift?

SNATCH. I’m not the best at it, but it’s my favorite.

Current lifting-related goal:

There are wayyy to many lifting goals to list!!!! But if I had to name one, a MAJOR goal of mine is to be able to Clean my bodyweight (113lbs). I’ll be there soon!

clean

Piece of advice for new lifters or those reluctant to try:

You will never regret a workout. You will not become bulky like a man. It is so much fun! Research online, watch youtube videos, follow blogs, and ask questions.

You can do things you never thought you could do.  Trust me, I surprise myself every time I try and go for that PR and get it!

deadlift

I’ve always had self body issues. Funny because I was always the littlest one in school, always the skinniest of my friends. But I never saw it. I struggled with eating disorders and finally overcame them.

2011 – Sucking in and self conscious And now- 2013. Don’t have to suck in!!

It took years but I am finally comfortable in my own skin. And for once in my life I want to put on weight! I want to build muscle and be strong!!

strength is beauty
