Non-Whole30 Post: Picture-Heavy WIAW!

in Food

Since my Whole30 is over, I am finally able to eat anything and everything I want without feeling guilty, right? Maybe. I have had a hard time transitioning back into “real” food. Well, “real’ in the sense like the Standard American Diet. I want to be all accepting of clean foods like oatmeal and rice, but I keep thinking like there are two ways of eating: Paleo and Junk. And if I’m going to take something out of the “junk” category, it’s got to be junky junk like cookies and ice cream.

Eating on the Whole30 was simple and even though it required prep work, the premise was easy, basically nothing in a package. But now I read everything, and I don’t want to stress out over what every label says.. I need to find my happy medium!

But in the meantime.. here are some eats that I have enjoyed this week thus far (or at least partially enjoyed; some I only ate some of!)

That is cutest little food collage. I look at food totally differently now too. I’m happy about everything I’m still learning but I’m pretty much Whole30 for life now. 😉

Sara, that is Awesome that you can keep it up! I still don’t view myself as part of the “normal” people who eat processed meals all day, but until I figure out the right way to fuel myself with all of the “good” foods, I need to keep experimenting with what makes me feel best, both physically and emotionally!
I think the pre- and post-workout snacks are my biggest issue. So you do 100% Whole30? or 100% Paleo/Primal?

Yep, all about finding the balance! If you were able to do the Whole30 for a month, I’m sure you will have no problem developing that balance 🙂

Thanks, Nicole 🙂

What in the world is that chicken black bean looking thing? I think I want that in my mouth, now!!

It’s the yummiest thing at Chili’s! Do they have those in the woods where you live? 😉
It’s on their “light” menu, but I rarely can finish the whole plate. Margarita Grilled Chicken, but I order it with Cajun seasoning on it. (Not that you’re overly concerned with calories, but it’s a balanced 590 calories (16g fat, 68 carbs (all rice and beans), 47g protein. Super balanced!
I wish I could duplicate this goodness!

Happy to see a McFlurry there!
😉

Jill! I could only eat half of it!! 🙁

I’m curious. How did the McFlurry taste? I’m on a paleo challenge, and find myself thinking about chocolate and ice cream.

Galo, I used to love these things before. I never had a big sweet tooth, but McFlurries always hit the spot (snack size). Last night, I ate half. Hardly could eat half. Like my body was saying, “give me an apple!”
It’s really hard to transition back to real food after being brainwashed with healthy goodness! 😉
