Lady Lifter Spotlight: Camilla!

Do you ever passively stalk websites but you never feel right commenting or posting? I’ve stalked tgipaleo.com for awhile but never really piped in. I had her in my Google Reader under “Paleo Food” sites so when I was in need of a recipe, I’d skim that list, but often her content was overlooked. But then I realized she needed to be promoted into a new category because her blog is so much more than just paleo foods. I thought it was just a girl who likes to cook and never looked at her beyond her recipes. But no, she is so much more. Lifter, unconventional figure competitor, yogi, runner, swimmer. The girl EATS (like 2500+ calories a day). And she LIFTS. So of course, she’s been bumped up in my book and is now one of my new favorite lady lifters.. 🙂

What types physical activity do you enjoy?

Lifting heavy!

How did you get started in weight lifting? How long have you been lifting?

I was always terrified of the weight room.  In college I was a regular on the treadmill and elliptical machine and would balk at the idea that weight training would make me gain weight.  When I met my husband, he talked me into signing up for a Crossfit gym.  I loved it so much and was shocked at how quickly I made gains.  Eventually, we moved and I lost my CF box, but I found an Olympic lifting-centric gym in Colorado and was hooked.  I got much more toned and was putting up weight I never thought possible.  I even did a bikini competition!

Favorite workout or lift?

Deadlifts…I can get the most weight up and I love seeing guys who can’t lift as much as I can on the platform next to me 😉

Current lifting-related goals:

Bench 200#, Deadlift 300#, Press 100#, do another figure competition.

Piece of advice for new lifters or those reluctant to try:

What’s the worst that could happen?
